“But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman,
born under the law, to redeem those under the law that we might receive the adoption of Sons.” Galatians 4:4-5
Dear Church Family,
As I think of Christmas, I am reminded over and over again that God loves to give us gifts! He delights as we excitedly unwrap His many surprises: an answered prayer, a healing of body or spirit, a new friendship. James tells us that “every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with him there is no variation, or shifting shadow.” (James 1:17)
We may vary or change like the shadows of wind-tossed trees, but God’s generosity remains constant; even when we turn away from Him, down from heaven comes an endless stream of acceptance and grace. What a wonderful God we serve!
Certainly, God’s greatest gift is Jesus. Who can begin to describe God’s tiny present, lovingly wrapped in swaddling clothes on that first Christmas morning? Within Jesus’ fragile frame, undiminished deity and true humanity existed together as God’s supreme gift of grace to us --- a gift too wonderful for words!
As we renew our faith this Christmas season and approach a new year with the blessed hope of Christ’s return in our hearts, let us come before Jesus with our faces bowed in the quietness of worship, offering the Christ your most precious gift of all: Yourself. Give Him your love, your life, your joy, your time, your hopes and your sorrows. Set them before Him in adoration. And watch for His gentle smile.
Barb and I want to thank each of you for your unconditional and gracious love for us. Our hearts are truly full to overflowing. We often wonder; who are we that we should be so blessed to have such a wonderful family as you. You mean more to us than you could ever know. You are truly a special gift from God and we deeply love you.
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Blessed New Year!
