Pastor Dave Reiss

Pastor Dave Reiss grew up outside of Philadelphia, and dreamed of becoming the next Jim Henson. He answered God's call to ministry in 1998 while serving as a volunteer middle school youth leader in Glendale, CA. Since then, he has served in Budapest Hungary, Richmond, VA, Huntsville, AL, and San Antonio, TX. He married Dawn in 2003 and they have four children; Lucy, Eli, Joel and Henry. In 2020, he completed his Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary. Dave joined Bar Mills Community Church as their pastor in September 2021.
Valerie Messana, Music Director
Valerie Messana has been involved in music ministry for many years. She served alongside her pastor husband (Rev. Rick Messana) in providing music for the churches he pastored in various communities throughout Maine. She has experience in leading music groups and providing piano accompaniment (sometimes organ) in the following settings: church services (both traditional and contemporary), weddings, funerals, pit bands for musical theatre productions, accompaniment for soloists, small groups, and choirs (both adult and children’s) She has 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren, and is a librarian, both at Libby Library in Old Orchard, and also Berry Library in Bar Mills. She began as Music Director at Bar Mills Community Church in May of 2022.

DeaconsThe Deacons are considered the spiritual leaders of our church. They are responsible for assisting the pastor in the following: administration of the Lord’s Supper, participation in preparing and sharing in the worship service, baptism, welcoming of new members, visitation and outreach as needed. They are elected to serve a three-year term on a staggered basis.

Church CouncilThe Church Council is responsible for overseeing the business transactions of the church, clearing of the church calendar, preparation of an annual budget of projected income and expenses, the development and carrying out of short- and long-range planning, and other business assigned by the church.
The Council is composed of the pastor, the moderator, treasurer, financial administrator, clerk, and a representative of the Deacons, Christian Education, and all active and recognized committees. |
